This degree combines philosophy and theology with systematic study of religion. You'll begin with foundations in philosophical thinking, knowledge, mind and reality, alongside ethics and critical reasoning. From Year 2, you move into deeper historical and thematic study: the history of philosophy from ancient to modern thinkers, and focused work in areas such as philosophy of mind, religion and theology, and political philosophy. In your final year, you'll choose specialist options in areas such as ethics and applied ethics, philosophy of science, logic, and religion and theology, and complete an advanced seminar and sustained independent dissertation. Throughout, the course emphasises philosophical argument and evidence-based inquiry into fundamental questions.
