What you'll study
This course, developed in collaboration with the Scottish FA, goes beyond technical football coaching to encompass the science and practice of player development and performance. You'll usually begin with foundational anatomy, exercise physiology and sport psychology, alongside practical coaching skills. Year 2 typically moves into biomechanics, training physiology and research methods as you deepen your understanding of how athletes adapt to training and how to assess performance. In later years, you'll choose specialisations such as strength & conditioning, sport psychology, nutrition, rehabilitation or PE teaching routes, and undertake applied placements working with teams or coaching contexts. You'll conclude with an independent research project investigating a question in football or sports science.
