What you'll study

You'll study the science of sport nutrition alongside applied exercise science. In your first year, you'll usually start with anatomy, exercise physiology, and introduction to sport psychology, alongside practical coaching skills. Year 2 typically moves to biomechanics, the physiology of training and how to test and programme athletes, and research methods in sport science. From Year 3 onwards, you'll choose specialist options such as strength & conditioning, nutrition, rehabilitation, coaching or PE teaching routes, undertake an applied placement with teams, clients or schools, and complete an independent research dissertation. The course integrates lab work, field-based analysis and practical application throughout.
