What you'll study
This course combines in-depth study of Islamic studies with a grounding in education studies, designed to support careers in teaching and the education sector. You'll usually begin with foundations of education and child development, alongside early school observation and placement experience. In year two, you'll progress to curriculum planning, pedagogy and assessment across subjects, along with study of inclusion and special educational needs. You'll also undertake sustained classroom practice with increasing responsibility. In your final year, you'll typically choose from specialist options such as primary teaching, early years, SEND and inclusion, education policy, or QTS routes, whilst developing your professional craft through behaviour management and assessment study. A final school placement and assessment against professional standards complete the course for those pursuing qualified teacher status.
