What you'll study
You'll study the scientific foundations of sport coaching, starting with how the body moves and responds to training through anatomy and exercise physiology. In your first year, you'll develop both theoretical knowledge, including sport psychology and research methods, and practical coaching skills across applied sessions. Year 2 deepens your understanding with biomechanics, training physiology and the principles of athlete assessment and programme design. By Year 3, you'll pursue specialist options such as strength & conditioning, sport psychology, nutrition, rehabilitation, coaching or PE teaching routes, undertake an applied placement working with teams or clients, and complete an independent research dissertation. Throughout, the course blends practical coaching experience with the science underpinning athletic performance.
