This foundation course builds your understanding of artificial intelligence and computing from the ground up. You'll start with programming fundamentals in languages such as Python and Java, alongside computer systems architecture and discrete mathematics. As you progress, you'll move into algorithms and data structures, databases and software engineering, and artificial intelligence with machine learning. From Year 3 onwards, you'll choose specialist options such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, software engineering, systems and networks, or human-computer interaction. Throughout, you'll learn how to design efficient solutions, work in teams on real systems, and evaluate models in practice. You'll conclude with an individual project, a substantial supervised build-and-evaluate software project where you apply what you've learned.
