What you'll study
This course builds practical skills for working with young children in education and care settings. You'll start with foundations in how children learn and develop from birth through early years, supported by observation in real school and nursery environments from Year 1 onwards. Year 2 deepens your understanding of curriculum planning, teaching and assessment, alongside specialist study in areas such as early years, primary teaching, SEND and inclusion, or education policy. You'll progress through sustained classroom placements with increasing responsibility. In Year 3, you'll focus on professional practice, behaviour management, assessment and the Teachers' Standards, while choosing specialist options aligned to your interests and completing a final placement that leads towards qualified teacher status where applicable.
