What you'll study

You'll study biology from molecular to organismal scale, building systematically across four years. Year 1 covers foundations: cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, evolution, and practical lab and data skills. Year 2 moves to molecular biology, physiology or microbiology (depending on your direction), and you'll design and run your own lab project. In Year 3, you'll choose specialist options such as biomedical science, molecular biology, ecology and conservation, biotechnology, microbiology or neuroscience, whilst engaging with current research literature and conducting an extended research project. A foundation year at the start supports you if your previous qualifications are not the typical entry background.
