This course is grounded in the study of how biochemical processes sustain living organisms, taught by expert biochemists, chemists and biologists. You'll usually start with cell biology, biochemistry, genetics and practical lab skills in Year 1. Year 2 typically moves into molecular biology and physiology or microbiology, alongside research methods and a lab project. In Year 3, you'll choose specialisations such as biomedical science, molecular biology, ecology and conservation, biotechnology, microbiology or neuroscience, whilst also engaging with current research literature and completing an extended research project. Throughout, the course builds from foundational understanding to independent investigation.
