If you've always wanted to understand how to design objects and systems, not just disassemble them, this degree builds your capability from first principles. You'll usually begin with engineering mathematics, mechanics and materials, and design fundamentals, learning calculus, statics, dynamics and CAD in your foundation year. A course like this typically moves into core disciplines such as thermodynamics and fluids or circuits and systems in year two, alongside engineering analysis, computing and hands-on group design projects. In your final year, you'll pursue specialisations such as robotics and mechatronics, energy and sustainability, civil and structural engineering, or the Chartered (CEng) pathway, culminating in a substantial individual design or research project that forms the degree's centrepiece.
