What you'll study

You'll study the science of food production from farm to consumer, with particular focus on the links between livestock, crops and human nutrition. A course like this usually begins with foundational biology applied to animals and plants, alongside practical husbandry and the economics of food systems. In Year 2, you'll progress to nutrition and health, grassland and environmental management, and how technology is changing agriculture. By Year 3, you'll choose specialist areas such as livestock production, equine science, agronomy, animal behaviour and welfare, or agri-tech, and undertake a dissertation or industry project. Throughout, hands-on learning with animals, land and data forms part of your study.
