What you'll study
You'll study core physics covering mechanics, matter and energy, supported by mathematics for scientists. Year 1 also includes laboratory skills focused on measurement, uncertainty and scientific writing. In Year 2, you'll move into quantum and thermal physics, alongside advanced experiments, scientific computing and mathematical methods for solving real physical problems. Year 3 lets you specialise in areas such as astrophysics, materials science, quantum science or computational methods, whilst undertaking research-level topics taught by active researchers. You'll complete a supervised research project within a physics group, culminating in a final dissertation.
