What you'll study

This course focuses on the health and management of animals by finding more effective ways to breed, raise and care for them. You'll usually start with foundations in animal and crop science applied to livestock and companion animals, alongside practical husbandry and farm skills. Early study covers agri-food systems, how food moves from farm to consumer, and the biology underpinning animal production. In your second year, you'll progress to nutrition and health, grassland and environment management, and data and technology in agriculture, including precision farming and farm data systems. By year three, you'll choose specialist options such as livestock production, equine science, animal behaviour and welfare, agronomy, agri-tech, or farm placements. You'll also study farm business management and complete a dissertation or industry project, often in partnership with a farm or agricultural business.
