This is a four-year integrated course designed for students without prior A-level science. You'll begin with a foundation year covering essential science and study skills before progressing to the full biomedical science curriculum. Over years two and three, you'll usually move from core biomedical sciences, anatomy, physiology and pathology, typically taught by body system, through clinical and communication skills, and into population health and ethics. From year three onwards, a course like this normally introduces hospital and general practice placements across medicine and surgery, alongside specialty attachments such as clinical placements, psychiatry and research (intercalation). You'll undertake student-selected components enabling deep study in areas you choose, often with research elements, and may pursue a foundation programme pathway.
