On this course, you combine practical laboratory skills with the academic knowledge needed for professional environmental chemistry work. You'll usually begin with core chemistry and physics fundamentals, atomic structure, bonding, mechanics and energy, alongside mathematics for scientists and basic laboratory techniques. In Year 2, you'll progress to organic and physical chemistry, quantum and thermal physics, and more advanced experimental work, whilst developing scientific computing skills and mathematical methods.
