What you'll study
In your first year, you'll study the foundational problems of philosophy, knowledge, mind and reality, alongside core modules in ethics and logic. Year 2 typically moves into the history of philosophical thought and deeper specialist areas, such as philosophy of mind, religion, political philosophy, and logic. By Year 3, you'll engage with advanced seminars on current philosophical research and choose from specialisations including ethics and applied ethics, philosophy of science, religion and theology, and aesthetics. The course culminates in a dissertation, where you'll develop a sustained independent philosophical argument. Throughout, you'll build skills in critical reasoning, textual analysis and rigorous argumentation.
