What you'll study
This HND focuses on developing practical performance skills alongside musicianship and production craft. You'll usually begin with principal-study lessons, ensemble work and foundational musicianship, harmony, aural skills and analysis, alongside study of repertoire and its history. As you progress, performance deepens through recitals and larger ensemble projects, while you'll develop composition, music technology and studio skills. In the second year, you'll also explore teaching and community music practice. Throughout, you can pursue specialisations such as performance, composition, music production, musicology, music education or ensemble work, depending on your interests and the options available at your centre.
