This course combines foundational study in biomedical sciences with the core knowledge required for medical or dental practice. You'll usually begin with Biomedical Sciences Core, anatomy, physiology and pathology taught by body system, alongside Clinical & Communication Skills from year one, so you develop patient interaction skills early. Population Health & Ethics introduces epidemiology and professional standards. As you progress to years 3–4, clinical rotations in hospitals and general practices expose you across medicine, surgery and specialties such as paediatrics, psychiatry and obstetrics. Student-selected components allow deeper investigation in areas you choose, often involving research. By year 5, an assistantship integrates you into clinical teams, whilst elective placements (often abroad) and finals prepare you for provisional registration and foundation training.
