What you'll study
This course teaches robotics within the Bristol Robotics Laboratory, where you work with state-of-the-art equipment to design and build your own inventions. You'll usually begin with engineering fundamentals: mathematics, mechanics and materials, plus design and practical skills including CAD and workshop practice. In year two, a course like this normally moves to the discipline core, exploring thermodynamics, fluids, circuits and systems, alongside engineering analysis, computing and a team design project. From year three onwards, you'll typically choose specialist options in areas such as mechanical, electrical and electronic, civil and structural, robotics and mechatronics, energy and sustainability, or pursue the Chartered (CEng) pathway. You'll also study professional engineering practice and undertake a substantial individual project as the centrepiece of your degree.
