This course combines a strong practical, hands-on approach with technical and creative content. You'll usually begin with engineering foundations: mathematics, mechanics and materials, and design skills including CAD and workshop practice. In Year 2, you'll move into your discipline core, thermodynamics, fluids, circuits or systems depending on your path, alongside engineering analysis, computing and a group design project reviewed to industry standards. By Year 3, you'll specialise in areas such as mechanical, electrical and electronic, civil and structural, robotics and mechatronics, or energy and sustainability. Throughout, you'll develop professional engineering practice knowledge covering safety, ethics and sustainability, culminating in a substantial individual design or research project that forms the degree's centrepiece.
