What you'll study

This course combines physics and engineering, two subjects that have fundamentally shaped the modern world. You'll start with engineering fundamentals: mathematics, mechanics and materials, and design skills including CAD. In your second year, you'll progress to discipline-specific topics such as thermodynamics, fluids, circuits and systems, alongside engineering analysis and computing. You'll also undertake a group design project against a real specification. From year three, you'll choose specialist options such as mechanical, electrical and electronic, civil and structural, robotics and mechatronics, energy and sustainability, or pursue the Chartered (CEng) pathway. A substantial individual project forms the capstone of your degree, complemented by study in professional engineering practice covering safety, ethics and sustainability.
