You'll study architecture through integrated design studios, technical knowledge and professional context. Year 1 establishes foundations: design through drawing, making and critique; architectural history and theory from antiquity to the contemporary city; and how buildings are constructed and made to stand. Year 2 develops this further with more complex design briefs addressing context, users and regulation; environmental design, energy and structural principles; and digital tools including CAD and BIM workflows. Year 3 culminates in a major design project, your RIBA Part 1 centrepiece, alongside professional practice (contracts, ethics and the profession) and a written dissertation on an architectural question. Throughout, you'll normally encounter specialisations such as sustainable design, urban design, portfolio development and digital practice.
