This course aims to produce pharmaceutical scientists equipped to address healthcare challenges and lead in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. You'll typically progress from foundational biomedical sciences in your first two years, covering anatomy, physiology and pathology, usually taught by body system, alongside clinical and communication skills from the outset. Population health and ethics are integrated early on. From year three onwards, a course like this normally moves into clinical rotations across hospital and general practice settings, together with specialty attachments in areas such as clinical placements, surgery, general practice and psychiatry. You'll undertake student-selected components for deeper study, often involving research, and may pursue specialisations such as research through intercalation. The final years combine practical assistantship, preparation for professional practice, and opportunities for elective placements.
