What you'll study

This course combines sound design with engineering fundamentals. You'll study core engineering disciplines including mathematics, mechanics and materials, and practical design skills using CAD and workshop practice. In year 2, you'll progress to thermodynamics, circuits and systems relevant to audio, along with engineering analysis and computing for signal processing and audio simulation. You'll undertake a group design project to real specifications. By year 3, you'll specialise in areas such as audio systems, acoustics or electroacoustic design, whilst also covering professional engineering practice, safety, ethics and sustainability. Your studies culminate in an individual project, typically a substantial design or research investigation in sound engineering.
