This course covers the science of human movement and athletic performance. You'll usually start with foundational modules in anatomy, exercise physiology and sport psychology, exploring how the body adapts to training and the mental factors affecting performance. Applied coaching and practical sessions run alongside the theory. In your second year, you'll progress to biomechanics, analysing movement technique using lab and video methods, and the physiology of training, including athlete testing and programme design. You'll also learn research methods and statistics specific to sport science. In your final year, you'll choose specialisations such as strength & conditioning, nutrition, rehabilitation, coaching or PE teaching routes, complete an applied placement with teams, clients or schools, and conduct an independent dissertation combining lab or field research.
