What you'll study
This course develops your visual communication skills across multiple disciplines and media. You'll usually begin with foundations in design principles, colour and composition, alongside workshops in print, textiles and digital fabrication. Contextual studies ground your practice in art and design history. From Year 2 onwards, you'll undertake sustained studio projects, explore digital and emerging media, and work on live briefs with real clients and deadlines. In later years, you'll specialise in areas such as graphic design, illustration, fine art, fashion and textiles, or UX and digital design. Your studies culminate in a self-directed major project, typically presented as part of a degree show. Throughout, you'll develop both technical skills and a coherent professional portfolio.

You're curious about typography, colour, layout and how objects or images influence what people think and feel. You'll likely enjoy both the conceptual side, why a design works, and the making side: using software, testing ideas, iterating.
