What you'll study
This course emphasises sustainable design from the outset, integrating environmental and social responsibility into architectural practice. You'll usually begin with foundational design studio work through drawing, making and critique, alongside architectural history, theory and construction principles. In year two, you'll move to more complex design briefs informed by context and users, develop environmental design and structural thinking, and learn digital tools such as CAD and BIM. Years three and four deepen your practice through a major design project (the RIBA Part 1 centrepiece), professional practice studies, and written research. Throughout, you'll explore specialisations such as sustainable design, urban design, digital methods and portfolio development, building towards independent design expertise and professional readiness.
