You'll study architectural design, history and the technical foundations of how buildings work. Year 1 introduces design through drawing and making, the history and ideas shaping buildings, and how construction and materials fit together. Year 2 moves to more complex design briefs that engage with context, users and regulation, alongside environmental design, structural principles and digital representation tools such as CAD and BIM. In Year 3, you'll develop a comprehensive design project, typically the centrepiece of RIBA Part 1 accreditation, while studying professional practice and undertaking written research. Throughout, you'll usually explore specialisations such as sustainable design, urban design, digital workflows and portfolio development, building towards the skills required for architectural practice.
