What you'll study
This course develops your robotics, automation and systems engineering skills across three years. You'll usually start with engineering fundamentals: mathematics, mechanics and materials science, design tools such as CAD, and hands-on workshop practice. Year 2 moves into specialist discipline core, depending on your pathway, thermodynamics and fluids or circuits and systems, alongside computing, simulation and data analysis. You'll typically undertake a team design project evaluated against industry standards. In Year 3, you'll choose specialisations such as mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic systems, robotics and mechatronics, energy and sustainability, or the chartered (CEng) pathway. Professional engineering practice, covering safety, ethics and sustainability, runs alongside your individual capstone design or research project, which forms the degree's centrepiece.
