How it works

Learn anything.
Achieve everything.

Name a subject or add your notes. The app builds the rest. Here's what happens in the first minute.

  1. Step 01

Know exactly what to do today

Tell us your exam date. We spread your chapters across the days you have left and nudge you when it's time.

    • Share your thoughts, notes and files
    • Get a study plan personalised to you
    • A daily reminder keeps you focused
    • Miss a study session, the plan recalculates
  2. Step 02

    We build your study set

Flashcards, a summary and a revision plan, sorted into chapters with due dates. About 30 seconds.

    • Flashcards, summaries and explanations, made for you
    • Sorted into chapters with due dates
    • Ready in about 30 seconds
    • Share the set with your course mates
  3. Step 03

    Learn it your way

Quick rounds of questions with feedback on every answer. Your answers teach the app what to bring back, and when.

    • Feedback on every single answer
    • Rate how well you knew it, and the app listens
    • Shaky topics come back sooner, solid ones later
    • An explanation whenever you slip
  4. Step 04

    Prove you're ready

Sit a mock exam built from your own study set. See your score, close the gaps, walk in calm.

Questions

The things people ask before they start.

Short answers, no small print. Anything else, our help centre has it.

Is StudySmarter really free?

Yes. You can build study sets from any subject or your own notes, use Fluid Learn Mode and sit mock exams without paying. Premium adds our most advanced AI, unlimited Homework Helper and AI Assistant, flashcard export and ad-free offline studying, from £6.67 a month. Cancel any time.

How do I get started?

Name your subject or describe what you need, and our AI builds the study set from scratch. Got materials? Add PDFs, lecture slides, photos of handwritten notes, Word documents or textbook pages and we build from those too.

Which subjects and levels does it cover?

Any subject you can put into words, from first-year anatomy to A-Level history. Uni students are our biggest group, but GCSE and A-Level students, apprentices and people revising for professional exams use it too.

How accurate is the AI?

When you add your own materials it builds from them, so it stays close to what your lecturer actually said. You can edit any flashcard or summary, and the AI tutor will explain anything you're unsure about.

What else can it do?

Every topic gets a plain-English explanation page. Ask the AI tutor about your own notes, listen to a topic as an AI podcast on the bus, practise out loud, or point the homework scanner at a problem. All of it is built around your subject and your notes.

Can I use it on my laptop and my phone?

Yes. Your study sets sync across the web app, iOS and Android. Build on your laptop, revise on the bus.
